Do you remember when I vowed to step up my fashion game even more this year? I promised to take more risks and have more fun. Well, look at me now. Four weeks into the new year and I’m already putting my money where my mouth is and going for looks that match my fun, quirky, and sometimes bold personality. I most recently made it happened in a dress my mom picked up from a consignment sale.
When she brought the dress home, I literally melted. It’s soooooooo me. You know about these moments, right? It embodies your entire fashion mantra. It’s the just the perfect anount of you weaved into the garment. Well , that happened with this piece and I’m in LOVE!
The dress features three tiers of black, blue and green tinted feathers along with beaded embellishments. The bodice is velvet and it features a quarter-length sleeve with a boat neck collar. The dress falls right below my knees and the feathers move with ease.
Because of the design of the dress, it gave me a 80’s prom vibe. On this day though, I wasn’t going for that look. I turned that retro dress into a version of chic no one would expect.
I paired my dress with my favorite leather sleeve BCBG MAX Azria Blazer. Seriously this blazer is the MVP, GOAT , and any other name that means the BOMB DOT COM.
To give this look more definition and accentuate my somewhat snatched waist, I added my new Ralph Lauren leather belt onto the blazer. I kept my accessories all black, but made sure there was a mix of bold pieces as well as dainty ones to give this look a perfect balance of edgy and girly.
The velvet bold choker is definitely edgy, but my Just Fab heels are super feminine. The side bow screams girly-girl! I finished my look with a bold red lip and bright a smile.
Sweeties, this is one of my favorite looks to date. If my choker played nice it would be perfect in my book.
I first fell in love with feathers several years ago after seeing some of Hollywood A-listers kill the trend on the red carpet. Remember Beyoncé MET Gala dress, feather for days, right?
Since then I’ve wanted to try it out, but fear of looking foolish stopped me in my tracks . Plus, I wasn’t sure how I would style it. Fast forward some years and I’m here, getting out of my own way and just having fun!
If you’re anything like me, I’m here to tell you to just wear the dress girl!
