The color red is having a major moment in my closet right now. It has seriously pushed all my glorious blacks and neutrals to the back. In the last three months I’ve probably worn more red than I have in my entire adulthood. Maybe a teeny tiny stretch but you get my point. Red is “On and Popping!” It works with everything you already have in your closet. It pairs perfectly with nude pumps, black sandals, red heels, and even prints and patterns can shine against a red canvas. Continue Reading »

When I hit 30 my skin started to rebel as if it dreaded the day it entered the next decade. I would constantly get breakouts in face, which was a first. Dark spot after dark spot. Then the following Christmas after my 30th birthday my sister gave me a gift filled with Olay products including several from the Olay Fresh Effects Line. Continue Reading »

Style-Files-Cream-thrifted-beaded-embroidered-penil-skirt-bebe-cream-leather-bustier-bebe Cropped Leather Bustier-top-Justfab-Catherina-nude-heels-oohlalablog-6   Are you a “Label Girl?” You know , the woman  who only swears by designer pieces. The lady  who refuses to wear anything other than Balmain or Louboutin. Are you her? Don’t be her and I’ll tell you why. You’re missing out on some really cool pieces and of course, you could really save a ton of money!  Designer doesn’t equal fashion forward or best dressed. It only says expensive. It doesn’t matter where it came from as long as you can style it. Throw a Gap tee in the mix. Add an H&M blazer, and for the absolute  win add a one-of-kind vintage find from the thrift store. After I noticed how much Solange, my sister in my head mixed high end and affordable pieces together I realized it’s the norm. Style Guide: Instantly Upgrade Your Wardrobe by Adding a Statement Piece to Your Closet Like Boohoo’s Eimear Bow Front Crop Top

Happy Monday Sweeties!

I had a great weekend away from work celebrating my brother’s 30th birthday. I capped off my work hiatus by watching the 2016 BET Music Awards. There were certainly some magical moments, but nothing as hair raising and as the powerful as the acceptance speech Actor and Activist Jesse Williams delivered when he received the 2016 Humanitarian Award. People, I’m still gathering all of my edges that were snatched while listening to Williams so eloquently speak about the struggles of African Americans and and the need for change in America. He said everything we’ve all felt at one point or another. If you haven’t heard his acceptance speech for BET’s Humanitarian Award, check it out HERE . Beyoncé  and Kendrick Lamar’s opening performance also gave L-I-F-E! So overall a great ending to a busy, but fulfilled weekend. NOW to my all black look, that I absolutely love!

I’m officially 32 and looking better than ever! At one point in my life I regretted the idea of getting older, but now I welcome it. I love the growth I see in myself. My skin looks better, my mind is clear, and my soul is settled. It took me a while to get to place where I’m confident, full of self-love and finally removed so much self doubt . I’m happier with the woman I am today than I was at 22. Truth be told, I look better now than I did 10 years ago. Celebrating my new found self-awareness and my grown lady sexy, I decided to strut my stuff in a major way. This edgy look says, “you go girl.”

Thank goodness it’s a Friday! I don’t care how old I get, I still look forward to Friday. It’s the end of most work and school weeks. I’m a frugal fashionista. I love deals, discounts, sales, and any other way I can possibly save a coin. Simply put I like to style for the low and that’s why this fashion-forward frugal shopper LIVES for retailers like Target. I would literally visit two to three Target stores a week in Rochester. Every now and then I would pick up household goods, but I was truly there for the bomb pieces in the women’s department. Seriously, at one point my work wardrobe was strictly Target originals. Of those two years going rack to rack, I’ve never noticed the brand “Fashion Union.” It wasn’t until moving back to Bama that I discovered this hip and very affordable brand. OMG people! I. Love. It. And of course I had to add a few pieces to my cart. Here’s what I picked up. Continue Reading »
