IS GREY THE NEW BLACK?

Friday, October 29, 2010 · No Comments

All black everything isn’t the case anymore. It’s more like all grey everything. I know it’s not as catchy asJay Z’s lyrics to ” Run This Town,”  but wearing the color will put you on the right track to absolute fabulosity! Designers are creating pieces in grey because they know the color can emulate luxury and celebrities are wearing just for that reason. The color is versatile with tons of shades of the hue. So don’t think of grey as a boring dull color but a new take on our beloved color in fashion black.

Check out a few of our favorite celebrities rocking grey and looking great!

“Suede is a Must” are the exact words uttered from 3-time Grammy winner and Hip-Hop Mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs. Diddy further expounds his passionate beliefs on being fly by saying “You don’t own no suede than you ain’t fly.” When it comes to being fly Diddy first three rules are having #1. Options, #2. Fabrication, and #3. Suede. Earlier this month Diddy made an guest appearance on the Late Show with David Letterman wearing a Gucci shirt ($1,995) from the Fall 2010 collection. In compliance to at least two of Diddy’s rules, the Gucci shirt was camel colored featuring a suede front with a knit collar. Check out videos and images below

CELEBS LOVE HERMES BIRKIN BAGS

Tuesday, October 19, 2010 · No Comments

Created in 1984, Hermès Birkin bag was named after the iconic actress Jane Birkin. The Birkin bag is a symbol of supreme luxury, due to it’s elusiveness to the public as seen on popular television shows such as Sex and the City. Distributed to Hermès boutiques on unpredictable schedules and in limited quantities, prices of bags range from $9,000 to $150,000. Maybe its Hermès creativity, scarcity, and exclusivity that have celebrities steer crazy about these bags. Ciara was spotted out in NYC toting her $30,000 crocodile Hermès Birkin bag.

IS DETROIT THE NEXT FASHION POWERHOUSE?

Friday, October 15, 2010 · 1 Comment

Detroit has style that’s no secret, but will it become a fashion powerhouse?  With the third major fashion event this year well on it’s way, the city is heading in the right direction. That’s a great move for the city, but are Detroiters ready to switch gears and go from the automotive action to a fashion haven? Absolutely!  Detroit is a city that breeds innovative and fashion forward individuals. In this city you have to dress nice, no exceptions! So it’s only befitting that Joe Faris, former Project Runway contestant and Michigan native created Fashion In Detroit, the next major Fashion event scheduled in the city.

Fashion In Detroit was created to showcase the city as well as provide an outlet for talented designers living here. FID (Fashion In Detroit) is a bi-annual two day fashion extravaganza and in exactly one week you will play witness to its second annual premiere fashion show.

On October 22nd and 23rd Detroit will transform from the Motor city to the Fashion City, with FID as the catalyst for the change. The gritty back drop will vanish and glitz, glamour, and ostentatious flair will emerge.  The event will be held at the ubberly posh Motor City Casino. The two day event will include 12 runways shows from local and national designers. There’s also two scheduled trunk shows, one on each day. This will give you a chance to meet and greet some of your favorite designers and celebrities.

In addition to all of the Haute Couture action that will be running rapid in the Motor City Casino, there’s also luxury giveaways! FID will conclude with an Afterglow party that evening from 8PM to 2AM!  This is surely an event you don’t want to miss. In addition to being the place to be next weekend, FID will help put Detroit one step closer to becoming a force to be reckoned with in the fashion industry!

MILITARY FAB

Atten-tion….About FacE! NO, It’ s not basic training, but it is Fall Fashion and you need to get whipped in to shape. So welcome to the Military Fashionistas!!  When it comes to your fall wardrobe, pieces that inspire a military look should be hanging in your closet.

Jackets and coats that are decorated with brass buttons and epaulettes are a good way to get you started. Cargo pants are back in, but with a twist. No longer are we going baggy with the cargo pants, we are now going for a skinny pants leg.

Since this look is a bit masculine and heavy, you will definitely  need to balance it out with feminine pieces. For example, If you decide to wear a military style coat or jacket pair it with shiny leggings. Add a stiletto bootie, an over-the-knee boot, or a flat rider boot to complete the look.

Popular Boutique Rider Boot $65.00

If you want to rock the skinny cargo pants wear a sequin tank and a military crop jacket at the top. This is a good way to balance out the masculine with the feminine.

Frilly shirts , dresses,  shiny leggings, and sparkles are great ways to add a twist to the military look. At the end of the day you want a military inspired look, you don’t want to look like you’re in the military.

The miltary look is  just as popular in the men’s fashion world as it is for women. Most of the same rules for tackling the look apply. For example, men  look for double breasted or single breasted  coats. The coats or jackets should be accented with metallic decorations. To rock the military inspired coat pair it with a slim dark jean or blue pant. Add a dark colored flat boot to complete the overall look.

To pull off the military look make sure you pull the right colors.  Go for olive green, army green, cognac, camel, cream, brown, black, and navy. Also look for metallic accent pieces. Since the military trend is hot right now, you can find plenty of pieces to choose from at your favorite boutiques and department stores. Here’s a few pieces to get you started….LETS GO!
