The Rundown: Oprah Slays Four Covers of O The Oprah Magazine, Alexis Bittar Designs Beauty Collection, and MAC Cosmetics ‘Rocky Horror Picture Show’ Makeup Collection
September has kept me on my toes . This has been one busy month and we’re only half way through. I’ve been so busy I’ve neglected important things like “Manicure Mondays” and fall boot shopping. It’s time I put my sandals away and start looking for fall boots.
Yup , fun things have fallen by the waist side, while I’ve taken care of business. Hopefully greatness awaits me on the other half of September.
While I’ve been on the move so has the beauty and fashion world. Here’s the latest:
Oprah Creates Four Covers for October Issue of O The Oprah Magazine
We’re seeing Oprah Winfrey like we’ve never seen her before. The media mogul showcased four distinctive looks for the October 2014 issue of O The Oprah Magazine. Each look was created using Maybelline makeup and I’m here for that deep purple eye shadow.
In addition to the dramatic cat eye, Oprah also sported fringe bang and a red lip.
For another cover shot Ms. Winfrey wore a diamond halo and handpiece. The last cover is pretty traditional as it relates to Oprah. She kept her voluminous curls and coral lip.
If you loved the looks, you get your chance to recreate Oprah’s cover looks. Each magazine will come with a four instructional cards that provide make-up tutorials for readers.
And Creating these four covers was no easy fete. The shoot took 12 hours to complete. Talk about exhausting. [O Magazine]
Rihanna Delivers High Fashion Spread for Tush Magazine
I promise she can do no wrong in my book. Who else can serve up ice goddess realness like my girl Rihanna? Rih has me wanting to run to the bathroom right now and dye my hair ice grey.
This high fashion shoot is for the latest issue of Tush Magazine.
RiRi is dressed in feathers, embellishments, leather and chains. She gave us a series of looks and poses that are plucked from a sci-fi movie and I loved every bit of it. She is a fashion icon, what else did you expect? [Tush]
Nicki Minaj Fronts Two Covers for Dazed & Confused
Nicki Minaj continues to make a name for herself in the fashion world. The ‘Anaconda’ raptress is the cover girl for the autumn/winter issue of Dazed.
It’s the magazine biggest issue this year and to celebrate Nicki is fronting two covers. Both are distinctively different.
One cover captures Nicki in a demure look, where she’s sitting at a kitchen table making a bologna sandwich with all the fixins. Don’t you see the mayo on the table?
Nicki was preparing her sandwich wearing a bubble gum pink Chanel tweed jacket.
The second cover shows a sexy Nicki sitting poolside. She’s wearing a gold bikini, green heeled Mui Mui rain boots and yellow rain coat.
The 18 page editorial shot by Jeff Bark also includes an in depth interview from the rap star. The magazine hits newsstands Thursday. Which cover is your favorite? [Dazed]

Target is always cooking up a collaboration. The retailer is working with TOMS Shoes for a holiday collection and every piece under $50.
The nearly 50 piece collection includes clothing for men , women , and children. Also included is home goods , and slip on shoes (of, course).
TOMS, which prides itself on giving back, will continue that mantra with this collaboration.
Every TOMS for Target apparel, accessory and home good purchase results in the donation of a blanket through the American Red Cross or Canadian Red Cross, or one week of meals through Feeding America or Food Banks Canada. And for every TOMS for Target pair of shoes sold, a pair will go to a child in need.”

“Black-ish” star Tracee Ellis Ross is covering the September issue of Jet Magazine with her co-star, Anthony Anderson.

Taraji P. Henson Covers Ebony Magazine
“The No Good Deed ” actress is Ebony’s October cover girl. And she ‘s quite the sexy cover girl. Taraji is fronting the issue wearing a mesh and embellished body suit and rocking the fiercest hair cut .
Inside the actress vents about Hollywood and talks about some of her guilty pleasures.
Despite being nominated for an Oscar for her role in in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button or her Emmy nomination for the title role in Taken from Me: The Tiffany Rubin Story. Taraji still feels she’s underrated “I’m treated like I’m on the D-list,” Henson said. “I’m still being considered with actresses who haven’t done half the stuff I’ve achieved.”
I couldn’t agree more. Taraji is an accomplished actress. Glad the woes of Hollywood hasn’t got her down. She still knows how to have a good time. She also revealed in the October issue that she loves reality TV. “Sometimes, I’ll just sit in front of the TV, screaming, ‘Ratchet, ratchet, ratchet! Where’s the ratchet TV?’”
I’m right there with you , Taraji. You can grab this issue today. [E!]

Nude Bras for Women of Color
Finally a nude colored bra I can wear. It’s been a challenge finding a bra that matches my hue of brown. That’s especially frustrating when I’m trying to wear a white blouse or anything sheer for that matter
These days the range of nude isn’t extensive, but that will soon change with the help of Nubian Skin.
The England-based company is creating lingerie and hosiery for women of color. Nubian Skin will have a collection of bras, panties, tights (pantyhose) and hold-ups with sizes ranging from 30B up to 36DD/E.
You can start shopping the collection next month. [ Nubian Skin]
Jennifer Lopez is ELLE UK’s October Cover Girl
Jennifer Lopez proves once again she’s still has it, even at 45 years old! She is absolutely stunning on the October 2014 cover of ELLE UK. For the cover shoot photographer Txema Yeste, captured J.LO posing for her life in Versace gowns, with accessories by Laura Lee Jewellery and Lock & Co Hatters.
Inside she talks about being her role as a single parent, her upcoming career moves, and she opens up about her love life.
Despite her relationship woes, Jenny said she isn’t giving up on love. “Each time it goes wrong it’s hard, she said. I get really hurt but I have to let myself go, ‘What did I do? What can I learn?’ And as hard and as hurtful as things get, I want to believe I will be able to go one step higher. I’ve got to hope that if I keep going I will eventually get it right. I still believe in love. The nirvana man, he’s out there somewhere. But you just have to work at it. You have to work at everything.”
That’s a mantra I need to adopt. The issue hits newsstands on Thursday, September 4. [ELLE UK]
MAC Cosmetics to Launch “Rocky Horror Picture Show” Makeup Collection
MAC Cosmetics has teamed up with Twentieth Century Fox’s for the 40th anniversary “The Rocky Horror Picture Show.” They’re celebrating the film’s anniversary with a makeup collection just in time for Halloween.
The 1975 horror film has a classic with a huge cult following. Not to mention the makeup in the movie is off the charts. We’re talking dramatic in a major way. So I can’t wait to get my hands on this collection.
I’m most excited about the range of lipsticks. The reds go from bright to berry and I love them all.
The 21 piece collection will include lipsticks (lots of red) and lip pencils, false lashes, shadow palettes, glitter and pigment, blush, liquid liner, and will be available at MAC stores and online starting October 2. [fashiongonerogue]

New App Allows You to Delete Drunk Texts
Have you ever had too much fun and texted someone totally outrageous to only wake up and regret it. Yup we’ve all been there before, but now there’s an app that can help us get out of those sticky situations.
Ansa is a new messaging app allows you to delete offending messages from another person’s device before they even see it. Yes, our prayers have been answered.
The cool app was created by 23-year-old Natalie Bryla of San Francisco. It allows users to conduct “off-the-record” messaging. Sounds hard to believe, right? I mean nothing is ever off-the-record , but in this case the message threads will automatically disappear from both phones and the Ansa server to ensure there’s no trace of your conversation .
You can also choose the amount of time your message will exist before it disappears forever and through a synced deletion you can also delete messages you already shared. Here’s the catch, in order for the features to work your chats must be conducted through the Ansa apps. So your iMessages and text messages are up to you. [Ansa]
Stay tuned for more throughout the week!
