Sweeties,

Natural hair is so versatile. You can rock your curls and then flip your straight hair. I started this natural hair process four years ago and it took a while to transition. I didn’t do a big chop, instead I wore weaves to get me through that rough period. Unlike many of my natural sisters, I don’t rock my curls often. I’m a natural girl that keeps her hair as straight as possible. So why no perm it? I know that’s what your thinking, but since I ditched the relaxers my hair has grown tremendously. More importantly I have healthy hair. I also love the option to rock my curls when I feel like it! And that’s exactly what I did. Check out how I went from curly to straight. The story behind my process is pretty funny.

If you follow Ooh La La Blog on Twitter then you know I recently removed my weave for GOOD! It was so hard to say goodbye to my long, bone straight, and manageable hair. I’m not kidding at several points through the process I wanted to turn back and get this hair sewn up again, but I stuck to my guns. So I removed the weave, now what am I suppose to do? I can’t wear my hair curly because I’m suppose to look polish on air and big curls aren’t necessarily the polished  look they expect to see on the 6 O’clock news.  So I spent my entire Saturday trying to get my hair camera ready.  Keep in mind I’m relaxer free and have been since February 2010. Check out my process. I tried to document as much as I could. Continue Reading »

Untamed edges are real out here in these streets. My  unruly edges are what inspired me to write this article for Clutch Magazine. Here’s a snippet of the piece below.

You want to pull your hair up in a bun or rock a sleek ponytail, but you can’t because your edges picked today to become unruly. We’ve all been here before; untamed edges have turned what’s suppose to be a good day to a bad hair day. I’ve always had a love/hate relationship with my edges, but after starting my natural hair journey operation smooth edges went into overdrive. It can be tough to find a product that gets the job done without leaving greasy residue or flaking. Through trial and error I’ve finally found a few products that’s helping me keep these edges in check. Maybe these products can help you control those baby hairs. Continue Reading »
